Sharon Mofield-Boswell - President
Sharon is a dedicated mother and advocate of 2 G/T girls is Fayette County Public Schools. Katelyn is a junior at the STEAM Academy and Hollyn is starting her first year in the Tates Creek Middle School Gifted Accelerated Cluster. She also has two sons that are in their junior year at The University of Kentucky. A passionate advocate for equitably educating ALL kids, Sharon serves in multiple capacities throughout the district. She has just begun her 9th year as the parent representative on SBDM (4 at Picadome, 4 at Wellington and now at TCMS). While at Wellington, she was also an active member of the PTA, the FRYSC Budget Review Committee and the Arts & Humanities Program Review Committee. Her service also extends to SCAPA and the LHS Drama Department as a production chairperson. This last year, she assumed two new roles: PTSA President at STEAM Academy and 16th District PTA G/T Chairperson. She is excited to join our team and expand her service to all the G/T families of FCPS.
Mindy Wright - Vice President
Sharyl Yingling - Past President
Sharyl, the mother of four daughters, has taught in Fayette County’s gifted program for the past 14 years. Her goals are to promote parental involvement in the LexKAGE organization and advocate for quality G/T programs in our schools. She has served as past LexKAGE treasurer, Chapter Liaison for KAGE, and LexKAGE President.
Connie Jones - Executive Director
Connie is a longtime, passionate advocate for gifted/talented education as a parent of two gifted children, classroom and gifted/talented resource teacher, and district administrator.
She has been actively involved at the local, state and national level in her roles as Director of Districtwide Services (Franklin Co.), Associate Director of Gifted/Talented, Magnet, and Special Programs (Fayette Co.), elected as 6th District KAGE Board Representative, KAGE President, LexKAGE President and participated in NAGC activities.
Throughout her career, Ms. Jones was selected to the Kentucky Leadership Academy, ESS Advisory Council, appointed to the State Interagency Task Force for FRYSC’s, received the Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award (Frankfort Jaycees), Outstanding Teacher of Franklin County Award (KSU) and recipient of the KAGE Service and Advocacy Award.
Currently, Connie is serving as LexKAGE Executive Director and Wesley Center Day School Board Member.

Carrie Mungillo - Secretary
Carrie was born and raised in Lexington, KY where she attended Garden Springs, Beaumont and Lafayette. She Graduated LHS in 1988 and attended UK for her B.S and M.S. in Communication Disorders graduating in 1992/1994. She has worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist for Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital for just over 20 years. She has a husband, Mark, and two(2) kids Michael(9) and Morgan(6), who receive GT services at Garden Springs Elementary School. When Carrie is not working as a SLP or as a mom, she enjoys reading.
LexKAGE Support Profiles
Dr. Mary Ann Chamberlain - University Liaison
Dr. Chamberlain received her Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky and Master’s degree from Harvard University. Her doctoral research in Cognitive Development and Learning focused on the development of critical thinking in gifted elementary students. She has served as a teaching associate at Harvard University, taught courses in gifted education at the University of Kentucky and Georgetown College, was principal of Cox’s Creek Elementary School, and taught in full-time and resource gifted education classrooms in Fayette County. Dr. Chamberlain has developed curriculum for KET and presented professional development workshops throughout the state. She has also made presentations at the National Association for Gifted Children and the Kentucky Association for Gifted Education. Her honors include Fayette County Teacher of the Year, the Kentucky Historical Society’s Hambleton Tapp Award for Excellence in History Teaching, and the KAGE Michael Caudill Award.
Barbara Barr - Webmaster/Social Media
Barbara grew up in a family involved in some of the early studies of gifted adults and children. Her interest in serving the gifted community began in the 1970's when gifted education first started appearing in pubic schools in Texas. Barbara worked passionately to get programs started in area schools. She received her first gifted endorsement in Texas, and a second in Kentucky. In addition to her work in gifted education, Barbara as also served as a classroom teacher and a Technology Resource Teacher. Barbara was the Teacher of the Year in Plano, Texas; winner of the H. Ross Perot Award for Excellence in Education, and awarded a Stoner Grant in Fayette County Public Schools. Barbara has been a frequent speaker at international and national conferences in using technology in education, and has worked on numerous curriculum development projects.
